Wind Turbine Technician

Join us and become a Wind Technician (WT1) team member supporting operations and maintenance activities in our Northeast system.

Welcome to Operations
Together with your colleagues, you’ll live and work offshore during the Service Operations Vessel (SOV) campaign. You’ll commute to and from the assets via offshore crew transfer vessel (CTV), SOV, and/or helicopter.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • performing annual service on the wind turbines, transmission, and wind farm balance of plant assets
  • troubleshooting and repair of AC/DC electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic components, and systems within the wind farms
  • supporting the development of problem-solving techniques and innovations for improved wind farm operations
  • planning and executing the duties safely through rigorous process adherence, campaigns, and safety culture
  • carrying out preparatory work regarding spare parts, testing of tools and equipment, paperwork, and documentation as required.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have at least two years of experience with servicing, repairing, and/or troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and/or hydraulic equipment (AAS/AOS technical degree is preferred but not required)
  • have a proactive and systematic approach to your work tasks
  • can speak, write, and read English fluently, and enjoy working in an international team
  • have the ability and willingness to live offshore and work at heights, initially seven days on/seven off during CTV phase and later 14 days on/14 off during the SOV period
  • can pass the physical and medical tests for GWO certification including, but not limited to, working at heights, sea survival, first aid and CPR, and HUET helicopter transfer (future potential)
  • can work in the US for any employer without requiring sponsorship, i.e., work visa
  • are a current or future resident of New York or Rhode Island state (no relocation is offered).

Please note that extensive travel (approximately 80%, or more the first year) is required in relation to your work, as you’ll initially travel for classroom and on-the-job training to prepare you for the challenges of offshore wind farm operations.  Long duration domestic and international assignments are to be expected.
