Regional Biodiversity Specialist

Welcome to the Strategic Permitting team

You’ll be part of the US-based Strategic Permitting team where you, together with your colleagues, will lead regional initiatives and support planning, permitting, and execution of offshore wind projects in region North America. Strategic Permitting is a small team of specialists within the larger US Permitting, Environment and Marine Affairs team. Team members are based across the US and work across international time zones to serve projects throughout the region and collaborate with colleagues globally.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • leading the development and delivery of specific regional initiatives for biodiversity-positive actions related to offshore wind projects
  • engaging with multiple local and national biodiversity stakeholders incl. government, academics, and ENGOs
  • integrating our biodiversity actions into existing and future offshore wind projects in the US by supporting the Bids/Markets, Government Relations, Project Development, and Project Permitting teams
  • maintaining an overview of all regional biodiversity-related actions and recording them as appropriate, to ensure visibility across the entire organization
  • advising and leading the development of relevant biodiversity metrics suitable for the region, as required
  • acting as the main point of contact between the Global Biodiversity Program and Offshore Wind NA and participating in our Environmental Communities of Practice for Biodiversity.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have a bachelor's degree in a relevant subject, such as ecology, biology, or environmental science, with an advanced post-graduate degree preferred
  • have experience developing projects in the marine environment and an understanding of the complexity of offshore wind construction and operations
  • preferably have experience in biodiversity
  • are adept at explaining complex issues, problem-solving, and effectively communicating with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • thrive in an international environment and can create productive relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • have experience leading and delivering multidisciplinary workstreams and projects in high-profile situations.
