Apprenticeships

Committed to helping develop people with the right skills

Apprentice Wind Turbine Technicians learn how to operate and maintain our offshore wind turbines. We work to the highest health safety and environmental standards, so that apprentices are fully trained and supported during the programme.

The four-year apprenticeships include studying at North Lindsey College in Scunthorpe while gaining practical experience working on Ørsted wind farms.

Since 2017, we have had 97 apprentices come through our doors, with over 83% who completed their training now in full-time roles with Ørsted.

In 2026, we partnered with OEG, a leading energy solutions company, to launch a pilot programme to train 20 wind turbine technicians from our 2025 cohort of apprentices.

The pilot programme supports recommendations from the Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC) to establish industry-wide apprenticeship standards to help address the growing demand for skilled workers across the wind industry. The aim of the new approach is to enable technicians to move more easily between companies and wind farms throughout their careers.

Whilst Ørsted and OEG work together to assess this new approach and numbers are finalised for the technicians required for future operational needs, recruitment for new apprentices will be paused.

We will add any updates to our UK apprenticeship programme to this page when they become available.
