Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) providing grid services

Because battery storage systems are very fast to respond and can be easily controlled they’ll play an important role in providing services that support of the stability of the electricity network. The demand for these services is likely to grow in the UK as the country is expected to retire large parts of its carbon-based generation fleet and introduce more renewables generation.

Carnegie Road

Carnegie Road was our first commercial stand-alone battery energy storage facility. Presently undergoing re-build, the 20 megawatt (MW) battery, located in Liverpool, will consist of three battery containers, as well as the associated Power Conversion system all supplied by LG Energy Solutions Vertech.
