Ørsted & ATT celebrate success of Thrive centre on World Day for Safety & Health at Work April 28th

  • Thrive is available for use by all companies in the renewables, ports, and related sectors, and supports the region’s rapidly growing reputation as the UK’s Energy Estuary.
The Thrive Safety Leadership Centre is located at Modal Training in Immingham

On World Day for Safety and Health at Work, immersive safety leadership company Active Training Team (ATT) are delighted to announce that the Thrive Safety Leadership Centre, developed in partnership with Ørsted and based in Immingham, has already seen 668 participants complete the day-long course with quantitative feedback saying: 93% of participants agree or strongly agree ‘Today has made me more confident in challenging unsafe behaviour’.

Having committed £1.4 million funding to create the purpose-built facility in partnership with ATT, Ørsted is now inducting all personnel working on the Hornsea Two offshore wind farm project through Thrive. Thrive opened September 2020 and is run under strict Covid-safe conditions.

Ørsted is delighted that the facility is available to other companies and industries across the Humber to use on non-Hornsea Two induction days.

Dermot Kerrigan, Co-Director of ATT said: “Thanks to Ørsted’s vision and investment, ATT has been able to design a ground-breaking safety leadership centre of excellence on the Humber. The centre is available for use by all companies in the renewables, ports, and related sectors. It’s a fantastic legacy for Hornsea Two and an example of innovation in the Humber’s rapidly developing renewables sector.”

Lutuf Shah, Head of QHSE for Hornsea Two at Ørsted said: “We invested in setting up the Thrive Safety leadership Centre because we are committed to empowering our colleagues in doing the right thing when it comes to safety. The programme raises awareness about the behaviour and culture of safety in the workplace and it teaches our teams valuable techniques which they can implement into their daily routines at work.

The programme is recommended to each new starter on our project and we’ve received fantastic feedback from people who have completed the session. Our decision to set up the site in Immingham has proved to be a real success and we hope that many other industries will consider getting in touch with ATT to book the training. This unique programme is already having a positive impact on the health and culture of the Humber region.”

Thrive features a hard-hitting, multi-media scenario which examines the build-up to a fatal incident on a load-out operation and its consequences. The high-quality production values and industry-leading technology means the programme delivers a powerful immersive experience to participants. As an additional benefit Thrive has brought over 60 new jobs and contracts to the area.
