Ørsted is proud to announce the Hornsea 3 Fisheries Fund is now live. The Hornsea 3 Fisheries Fund is fund aiming to support the coexistence of the offshore wind and fishing industries.

Each year there will be £20,000 available which will be split into two application rounds of £10,000. The fund aims to finance a wide range of projects in fishing communities within the eligible funding zone across part of the Norfolk coastline. Applicants can only apply for one grant per year. The first closing for applications is 22 May.

The funding zone will capture communities which have recently experienced the installation of three Artificial Nesting Structures for kittiwakes, located approximately 1km off the coast of South Beach, Lowestoft and 1.4km off the coast of the RSBP Minsmere reserve.

Lee Thompson, UK Commercial Fisheries Manager said: “We’re pleased to announce the launch of the Hornsea 3 Fisheries Fund. After speaking with fishers, I know this has been long awaited. Fishers can apply although priority will be given to projects that benefit the wider fishing community. We’re looking forward to receiving your applications.”

The fund will be active from 2024-2027 and open for applications twice a year. Similar to the Hornsea 3 Community Benefit fund, Hornsea 3 Fisheries Fund will be administered by independent grant-making charity GrantScape, with decision-making being supported by Ørsted and Brown and May Marine, made up of community specialists who benefit from a strong and deep understanding of the relationship between fishers and offshore wind.
