Andy’s is the children’s arm of St Andrew’s Hospice, supporting babies, children and young people aged 0–25 with life‑limiting illnesses. The hospice provides respite care so parents and carers can take time for themselves. During a recent visit, Ørsted colleagues Lauren Little and Charli Parkin met Adalee and her mum, who had been at the hospice for four hours that day. Adalee’s mum shared that she brings her daughter to the hospice every fortnight and that it’s the only respite she receives from caring responsibilities.
Ørsted, a leader in offshore wind, operates six wind farms from their east coast operations, in Grimsby, to provide clean energy to the UK grid. Ørsted’s commitment to giving back to the communities where its colleagues live and work is central to its approach. The donation to Andy’s Children’s Hospice is an example of that commitment.
Ørsted’s support for St Andrew's Hospice and Andy’s Children’s Hospice is long‑standing. Ørsted previously provided funding towards a major refurbishment of the hospice and again in 2022, Ørsted supported more sensory equipment, helping to ensure the room remained accessible and engaging. This latest donation continues that ongoing commitment to the hospice and the families it serves.
Lauren Little, Senior Stakeholder Advisor from Ørsted said: “We’re proud to support Andy’s Children’s Hospice with funding that makes a practical difference for families. Upgrading the sensory room’s hurricane tubes from water based to air powered energy‑efficient lights means the team can spend less time on maintenance and more time on care. Meeting Adalee and her mum brought home how vital this respite is, and we’re grateful to play a small part in their support network.”
