Ørsted’s Greener Futures scholarships are open again for the third consecutive year to Norfolk residents wishing to study science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects.
The scholarships will support one undergraduate and one masters student at the University of East Anglia (UEA) who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to continue their studies.
Four students have now benefited from the funding: Perfect Bakashaba, Naomi Wilson Fediuk, Brandon Annells-Hill and Jake Gould.
Brandon and Jake started their studies last September, with Brandon taking an MSc in Applied Ecology and Conservation. He said: “My goal is for my own impact on the planet to be positive. Without the scholarship I wouldn’t have been able to do this UEA course. It’s a massive help.”
Jake is studying Computing Science with study abroad. He said: “Being a computing student, I work with a lot of electronic devices and different technologies. Understanding the environmental impact of that allows me to make better use of technology and minimise my impact on the environment,”
The scholarships are part of the larger Hornsea 3 Community Benefit Fund which commits £7 million to projects developed by and for the benefit of the local community in Norfolk and areas of Suffolk.
Ørsted Greener Futures Postgraduate and Undergraduate Scholarships will be available for the 2026-27 academic year.
