About the project
Ørsted is exploring the development of a new windfarm in Sutherland, Scotland. The proposed site is located to the west of the A897, 3 km north of Forsinard and 12 km south of Melvich.
It is anticipated that the proposed development will include around 11 wind turbines with a tip height of 250 metres and a total export capacity up to 90 megawatts (MW). The proposal may also include an energy storage facility.
The project aims to supply clean and sustainable electricity to the national grid, supporting the UK Government objective to achieve 95% of electricity generation coming from low carbon sources by 2030.
Environmental studies have commenced at the site. Data collected from these studies, along with feedback from the local community and other stakeholders, will be used to inform the design of the project.
