This year’s Global Offshore Wind event at London’s ExCel will focus on the theme of securing our energy future. Ørsted expert speakers will join fellow industry leaders as they discuss supply chain pressures and increasing costs, offshore wind sustainability initiatives, and the need for strategic planning to build a future global workforce.

Our speakers will share expertise from Ørsted’s 30 years’ experience developing offshore wind and adding value to global economies and communities while realising a green transformation to become ranked one of the world’s most sustainable companies.

Ørsted panel speakers:

Kunal Patel, SVP, Portfolio Development & Strategy Ørsted’s Kunal Patel, will join a panel of experts as they question what needs to be done to ensure a financially sustainable global supply chain to deliver on offshore wind targets and meet climate goals. The panel will also discuss the opportunities this creates and how the industry can ensure the outcomes are sustainable and just for all.

The session, Global Offshore Wind: Securing our energy future, will take place at 09.30, Stream A (Platinum 1) on the 14 June 2023.

Nicholas Creswell, Head of Global Culture & Talent 

Ørsted’s head of global culture and talent, Nicholas Creswell, will join a panel discussion exploring the need for strategic planning to build the future offshore wind workforce. The panel will explore how markets and governments can stimulate and design frameworks to reward collaboration and help contribute to growing skills in the sector.

The session, Investing in a global offshore wind workforce, will take place at 13.00, Stream B (Platinum 2) on the 14 June 2023.
 
Mie Prehn Nygaard, Decarbonisation Manager
Mie Prehn Nygaard, Decarbonisation Manager
Leading on Ørsted’s Supply Chain Decarbonisation Programme, Mie Prehn Nygaard will join fellow panel members as they explore current sustainability initiatives and question what the supply chain is doing to reduce emissions and maritime decarbonisation in offshore wind.

The session, Sustainability in the offshore wind sector, will take place at 14.15, Stream B (Platinum 2) on the 15 June 2023.

Marc is the Senior Supply Chain Development Manager at Ørsted with a focus on building UK supply chain capacity to support Ørsted asset projects globally and is currently part of the Hornsea 3 project team. Prior to that Marc has over 15 years' experience in building supply chains, supporting exports and attracting inward investment for the UK Government with a specific focus on offshore wind. Marc is a currently member of the following supply chain related groups: Renewable UK supply chain group, Fit for Offshore Renewables Industry Advisory Group and the Offshore Wind Growth Partnership Reference Group.

Marcelo Petrone 
Senior Category Manager delivering Offshore Sourcing Strategies and Procurement across Ørsted's global portfolio. He is passionate about green initiatives not just in the workplace but at home as well. Marcelo has 17 years’ experience in procurement, with five in offshore wind. He is based in London, UK.

David is Head of UK&IE Ventures & Open Innovation for Ørsted.  He is responsible for establishing collaborations between Ørsted and external innovation ecosystems in the UK and Ireland, including with universities, research organisations, start-ups, other green energy developers, public funding organisations, and private investors in innovation.

   

Floating wind

Nick Ritchie, Senior Development Project Director
Our pioneering joint-venture floating wind project Stromar – commercial scale floating wind in Scotland

Born and raised in Scotland, Nick worked in the oil and gas sector for more than 20 years before joining Ørsted, then DONG Energy, in 2015.
 
He was responsible for the engineering and procurement of Ørsted’s global portfolio electrical transmission systems. During this time, he and his team travelled around the world to establish new supply chains and sourcing partners. He also established and led a new innovations team to standardise, simplify and drive down the cost of energy. 

Currently, Nick is the Development Director for the Stromar floating wind project, a joint venture between Ørsted, Renantis and Bluefloat Energy.  Stromar is located around 50 km east of Wick, Scotland, and has a seabed lease agreed with Crown Estate Scotland for up to 1GW. 
 
Stromar is an ambitious project aiming to share the benefits of floating offshore wind with the Scottish economy, supply chain and communities.

Sarah Drljaca is the Head of Stakeholder and Market Development within the Environment and Consents department of Ørsted. She has extensive experience in managing consent applications for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, as well as large-scale mixed use regeneration projects, in the UK and globally. She previously worked at a leading environmental consultancy and is a current Board Member of the National Infrastructure Planning Association.

We’re looking forward to welcoming 120 KS4 children from local schools who will spend the day learning about offshore wind.

Ørsted experts and apprentices will inspire and share their experiences with future generations. Pupils will hear what it’s like to work in the industry and learn why offshore wind is so crucial in the fight against climate change.

Ørsted’s Social Sustainability Champion at Global Offshore Wind

Lauren Little, Senior Stakeholder Advisor, Ørsted UK

The Event Champions initiative at Global Offshore Wind aims to highlight individuals across the sector who carry out exceptional and innovative work. The individuals will champion a wide range of topics and themes at the event.


Lauren Little, Senior Stakeholder Advisor, will be Ørsted’s Social Sustainability Champion. Based in Grimsby at our East Coast Hub, Lauren is passionate about social impact – particularly around skills, young people, social mobility and gender. She has supported the reshaping of Ørsted’s apprenticeship programme, the £1m Grimsby Horizon Youth Zone donation and the award winning WIME (Women into manufacturing and Engineering) Raising Aspirations programme with local schools.

Lauren is also a Humber Offshore Wind Cluster industry champion and leads and convenes cluster partners for the greater benefit of the region.

“As a local Grimbarian, I am personally motivated by the long-term economic and social opportunities a world leading sector can bring to help transform coastal communities and create a lasting legacy for the next generation.
