Durham Energy Institute

Promoting innovation & research

When it comes to the future of energy, we look for innovation, research and new technology to address the issues that arise from climate change. For the past 7 years, we have collaborated with Masters and PhD students enrolled in the Durham Energy Institute (DEI) at Durham University on projects and research that have positively impacted the renewable energy industry.

About DEI
Durham Energy Institute (DEI) forms part of Durham University, supporting and producing cutting-edge energy research which draws on the expertise of world-leading researchers across departments in Science, Social Science and Humanities. DEI aims to produce major breakthroughs in our understanding of how to best meet the energy demands of the future.

DEI Research Students

Promoting Innovation and Research

We have funded the Chair in Renewable Energy position at DEI and endowed three MSc scholarships for Durham University students each year since 2011. We will now also support two PhDs which will focus on the operation of wind turbines and helping to predict technical faults before they happen. This research could prove vital in improving the availability of offshore wind turbines, ultimately helping to further drive down the cost of energy.
